Griffo Announces Free E-waste / Document Shredding / Medication Disposal and Child ID Weekend event

Joint community event is sponsored by Time-Warner Cable, Confidata, Sunnking Electronics Recycling and the Office of the Oneida County Sheriff Robert Maciol.

(Utica)  Senator Joseph A. Griffo (R-C-IP, Rome) will be hosting a weekend event for Oneida County residents who are invited to drop off electronic –waste, confidential documents and old, expired medication for free, safe disposal on Saturday, October 13 in New Hartford and Sunday, October 14,  in Rome.

Griffo said that the one-stop, drive-thru event is targeted for family households who need to safely rid of environmentally –sensitive waste.

“We wanted to get together several community partners who have extensive experience in these specialized types of responsible recycling and disposal, “Griffo said. “Confidata is an upstate industry leader in data destruction. Sunnking Electronics will be on site to accept old or unwanted computers and electronics. And since left-over drugs in our homes can contribute to potentially fatal recreational or accidental misuse, as well as environmental damage to our waterways when disposed of improperly, Sheriff Maciol’s office will be there to take household medications.”

Griffo noted that volunteers from Time –Warner Cable will be on-hand  to supervise and coordinate the hundreds of cars that are expected to visit both sites. “Time-Warner Cable donates time, energy, and money to public service groups and organizations and is committed to green measures such as paperless operations, power conservation and recycling. I’m looking forward to working with their volunteers this weekend.”
