October 29, 2012

Dear Community Members,

As the day goes on the weather conditions will continue to intensify. There will be heavy rains and heavy winds. It will be dangerous to be outside.

Trees, limbs, and power lines can come down. Debris will be flying around. There could be flooding and there could be power outages.

The 68th Precinct is here to help you- but it is important that everyone acts wisely. Please stay away from the shoreline (69th Street Pier, Shore Road bike/walking path, and the Belt Parkway bike/walking path). The 69th Street Pier is now closed.

Do not go outside unless it is absolutely necessary. Do not drive unless it is absolutely necessary.

If you have any neighbors that are elderly or disabled that might need some help - please check in on them.

Many stores and restaurants did not open today and many will be closing in a few hours.

If you see any downed trees or branches , please call 311,

If you see downed electrical wires DO NOT touch them or move them (even with another object). Treat all downed wires as if they were live.

If you see overflowing drains (catch basins) call 311

If you experience a power outage call Con Edison at 1-800-75-CONED .

If you need police assistance call the precinct at 718-439-4211. In an emergency DIAL 911

We will continue to send out local updates throughout the storm.

Sincerely,

Captain Richard G. DiBlasio, Commanding Officer 68th Precinct.
