Brooklyn – State Senator Martin J. Golden (R-C-I, Brooklyn), the sponsor of S. 7709 A, which seeks a number of reforms to improve the integrity and speed of election result reporting, has issued the following statement:

“I commend the New York City Board of Elections for recognizing the need to improve our system to ensure accurate vote tallies. As we move toward electronic vote counting, we are eliminating room for human error, while increasing transparency of the process, and giving voters peace of mind.

I continue to advocate for passage of legislation I have sponsored in the State Senate, and that has been introduced by my colleague Assemblyman Brian Kavanagh (D-Manhattan). This legislation is necessary so to create statute throughout the State of New York for election returns and management.”
