Gallivan Receives Top Honor From Small Business Group

One of Only Ten Lawmakers in State to be Named "Guardian of Small Business"

The National Federation of Independent Business (NFIB), New York State’s leading small business advocacy organization, named Senator Patrick M. Gallivan (R,C,I – Elma) a “Guardian of Small Business” today for his record of supporting and advocating on behalf of New York State’s small businesses.

“Small businesses are the backbone of the Western New York economy. I have worked hard during my first term to eliminate costly regulations and mandates, reduce government spending, and alleviate the tax burden on small businesses,” Senator Gallivan said. “I appreciate this honor from the NFIB, and promise that my commitment to protecting the small businesses and family farms of New York State will not waver.”

Gallivan recorded a perfect score on the NFIB’s 2011-2012 Voting Record legislative scorecard, and was one of only 10 legislators in New York State to be named a “Guardian of Small Business.”

Gallivan's sterling record on issues important to small businesses and job creation has also garnered him top marks from business growth advocacy groups, The Business Council of New York State and Unshackle Upstate, and was a contributing factor in his recent appointment as chairman of the Senate’s Commerce, Economic Development, and Small Business Committee.

“In my new role as chair of the Commerce, Economic Development, and Small Business Committee, I will look for innovative ways to transform New York – and particularly Western New York – into a place where existing businesses can grow and new businesses want to locate,” Senator Gallivan said.
