Display Encourages People to Learn About Notable Female New Yorkers

State Senator Patty Ritchie has announced her “Women of Distinction” display has moved to the Hannibal Free Library, located at 162 Oswego St. in Hannibal.  The display is available for viewing during regular business hours.

The traveling display, which will be featured at Oswego County libraries through October 8th, provides an opportunity for people to learn about New York’s female leaders, both past and present.

“New York is home to many women who have made a difference, or are making a difference in our state,” said Senator Ritchie.

“It’s important that we honor these women—everyone from Dr. Mary Walker of Oswego; who was the only woman to ever receive a Medal of Honor, to the women who are currently giving back to their communities each and every day.”

The moving display features this year’s Woman of Distinction, Jan Rebeor of Oswego County, as well as other famous New York women; such as Rhoda Fox Graves, Susan B. Anthony, Harriet Tubman, Lucille Ball and more.

The display will be featured at the following libraries:

Hannibal Free Library, July 11th to July 19th

Williamstown Library, July 20th to July 30th

Mexico Library, August 9th to August 17th

Sandy Creek Library, August 20th to August 28th
