Academic ‘Jewel on the Lake’ Tops Schools Across the Country
State Senator Patty Ritchie congratulated the students, faculty and alumni of SUNY Oswego for being named by Princeton Review and USA Today to their 2012 list of 150 “best value” colleges and universities in the nation.
“I am very pleased to see that Princeton Review recognizes what I’ve known for a long time—SUNY Oswego’s faculty, administration, students and alumni have worked very hard to insure that our academic jewel on the lake offers students one of our nation’s best values,” Senator Ritchie said. “As a member of the State Senate's Higher Education Committee, I am especially proud of the great colleges and universities that are located throughout Central and Northern New York, and I want to congratulate President Deborah Stanley and the entire Oswego community on this important recognition.”
“SUNY Oswego is celebrating 150 years of academic excellence this year,” Senator Ritchie said. “This is just the latest example of how the hard work of Oswego’s students, faculty, staff, administration, alumni and supporters is paying off for our state and nation by providing a world-class education for the students who choose to learn in Oswego and Central New York.”
Princeton Review chooses its “Best Value Colleges” based on institutional data and student opinion surveys collected from 650 colleges and universities that it regards as the nation’s academically best undergraduate institutions.
The list of 75 public and 75 private institutions appears in the book “The Best Value Colleges: 2012 Edition.”
SUNY Oswego offers more than 100 programs of study in its four academic units—the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences, the School of Business, the School of Communication, Media and the Arts, and the School of Education.
