Players, coaches from Buffalo’s United Youth Football League depart for national tournament in Florida.
BUFFALO, N.Y. – Players and coaches from Buffalo’s United Youth Football League departed for their national tournament in Florida Friday from True Bethel Church in Buffalo. Senator Tim Kennedy, Councilman Demone Smith and Naaman Roosevelt, formerly of Buffalo Bills, were there to send off and congratulate the local contingent headed to Florida. Over 100 Buffalo youth are headed to the national championship tournament.
In recent years, teams from Buffalo have done very well at this national tournament, outperforming teams from across the country. League organizers expect no less this year.
Senator Kennedy has long been an advocate for youth sports and programming to keep local young people engaged in their community, focused at school and out of trouble. Kennedy presented certificates of achievement to the head coaches of each of the teams.
