Bill Would Designate Route 218 For Local Son
Senator Bill Larkin (R-C, Cornwall-on-Hudson) announced today that the New York State Senate unanimously passed legislation, Senate bill S.1506, to designate Route 218 from Route 9-W to the United States Military Academy at West Point in honor of General David H. Petraeus.
“It is an honor to sponsor legislation for such an impressive individual,” said Senator Larkin. “I can think of no one more deserving of this honor then General Petraeus. His dedication to his country is unparalleled and President Obama has seen fit to appoint him to one of the most important positions in the county, Director of the Central Intelligence Agency. With his impressive record of service, I feel it is only fitting to bestow this small honor on a local son who has done so much for his country,” said Larkin. “It is my hope that the Assembly will agree and finally pass this legislation to honor this outstanding individual.”
The bill has been sent to the Assembly Transportation Committee for action.
