Senator Charles J. Fuschillo, Jr. (R-Merrick) recently visited Calhoun High School in North Merrick to thank students for participating in his “Extend the Holidays” toy drive.
“Extend the Holidays” is an annual toy drive that Senator Fuschillo organizes for the benefit of children in Winthrop Hospital’s Pediatric Center. Calhoun students collected over 400 new, unwrapped toys for children of all ages which will be delivered to the hospital after the holidays. This way, children can experience the joys of receiving a new toy after the holiday season and throughout the year.
“Calhoun’s students did an outstanding job. The gift of a new toy is something that brightens every child’s spirits, especially when they are in the hospital. Every toy collected by the Calhoun students will put a smile on a child’s face, and that is something of which they should be extremely proud,” said Senator Fuschillo.
