Westbound Ocean Parkway Between Wantagh and Meadowbrook Parkways Closed by DOT Through the End of March

Senator Charles J. Fuschillo, Jr. (R-Merrick) is informing drivers that the New York State Department of Transportation (DOT) has closed the westbound Ocean Parkway between the Wantagh Parkway and Meadowbrook Parkway around the clock through the end of March. According to the DOT, the closure is necessary to reconstruct the pedestrian tunnel between Jones Beach parking field four and the Jones Beach central mall.

The DOT is detouring westbound Ocean Parkway motorists to northbound Wantagh Parkway to the turnaround south of the Jones Beach toll booths to Bay Parkway westbound to the Meadowbrook Parkway. Southbound Wantagh Parkway motorists are being detoured to Bay Parkway westbound to the Meadowbrook Parkway. Eastbound Ocean Parkway motorists are unaffected by this closure.

The DOT is warning drivers of the closures via electronic roadway signs but DOT urges westbound Ocean Parkway motorists to use alternate routes, such as Sunrise Highway or the Southern State Parkway, to avoid delays.
