“I am appalled and disgusted by Congress’ failure to approve the federal assistance legislation to help the millions of victims of Hurricane Sandy.
Long Island and all the other communities that were devastated by this storm are struggling to rebuild and recover. They need help, and they need it now.
By refusing to act on the aid bill, the House leadership has turned their backs on New Yorkers in their time of need. Federal disaster assistance is vitally important to help rebuild Long Island’s homes and businesses, repair its critical infrastructure, and recover from one of the worst natural disasters in our history.
The House of Representatives should immediately take up the Hurricane Sandy aid legislation passed by the U.S. Senate and deliver desperately needed assistance to those in need. I fully support the efforts of Congressman Peter King and the other members of New York’s Congressional delegation who are fighting to get the House to honor its obligation to Long Islanders and all the other victims of this terrible disaster.”
