Senator John Bonacic Invites Nominees for “Women of Distinction”

Annual Program Honors Women’s Outstanding Contributions to Our Community 

State Senator John J. Bonacic (R/I/C - Mount Hope) today invited local residents from the 42^nd Senate District to nominate friends, colleagues and neighborhood leaders whose outstanding work on behalf of their communities make them deserving of a special recognition by the State Senate as a New York “Woman of Distinction.” 

A distinguished woman from each Senate District will be honored at a ceremony held on May 7th in Albany.  Previous honorees in this annual program have included business leaders, community advocates, educators, everyday heroes, innovators, and volunteers. As we celebrate Women’s History in March, it is befitting to begin the nomination process of remarkable women this month. 

“There are extraordinary women in New York State who devote a significant amount of  time and energy to making our communities stronger. The Women of Distinction Program not only recognizes women for their tremendous achievement at a local level, but celebrates their accomplishments statewide.  It provides a special opportunity to recognize and thank women whose accomplishments have made a notable impact on the lives of others,” said Senator Bonacic.

“I look forward to receiving nominations of outstanding women who have made a difference and bring pride to our communities,“ said Senator Bonacic.  If you would like to nominate a woman who lives in the 42^nd Senate District, which includes the Counties of  Delaware, Orange, Sullivan and Ulster, please send an email to Senator Bonacic’s Office at Catania@NYSenate.gov.  Nominations must include a brief biography of approximately 300 words detailing why you think your nominee should be selected as this year’s Woman of Distinction.  Nominations should also include the town or city of residence and phone number of the nominee.  Those making nominations should also include their own name and contact information.   Nominations must be received by April 5, 2013.
