(Albany, NY) State Senator José M. Serrano (D-Manhattan/Bronx), along with 10 of his colleagues from the Senate Democratic conference, were ranked highest amongst State Senators on the annual EPL/Environmental Advocates Scorecard. The scorecard tracks legislators' votes on bills affecting New York's environment. According to this year's rankings, 11 senators, including Serrano, voted correctly on all environmental bills that came up for a vote in the Senate Chamber.

"Issues involving our precious environment are so important to me, and I thank EPL/Environmental Advocates for recognizing my commitment to improving our state's air, land, water and public health," said Senator Serrano, who has been a longtime advocate for environmental issues.

"Whether we're fighting the environmental causes of the asthma epidemic in my district, or battling against the threat hydrofracking poses to our state's water supply, I am proud to stand with so many of my colleagues who recognize the urgency of protecting our environment now, and for future generations," concluded Serrano.

Senator Serrano is a sponsor of many important pro-environment bills in the State Senate, and has been one of the most outspoken opponents of the dangerous practice of hydrofracking. Serrano is also a vocal advocate for our state's natural treasures, such as our amazing State Parks System.
