“I’m tremendously pleased by today’s announcement that New York is committing $163.7 million to important economic projects in the regions I represent. We truly have the best collaborators and leaders in economic development right here.
The Council remains impressed with the North Country, whose projects earned ‘top performer’ status for the third time in a row. These ‘firecracker’ projects, as the regional leaders call them, will enhance Northern New York’s status as a premier tourism destination and make the area more attractive to forward-thinking businesses, especially those in the biotechnology field.
I’m also very pleased that the Mohawk Valley region was designated as a ‘top performer.’ Thanks to the Council’s support, we’re quickly becoming the nucleus of New York’s high tech sector. The funding committed today will support both development of the Marcy Nanocenter project as well as helping to educate the future leaders in technology and cyber-security.”
