Reminder: Ritchie to Host No-Cost Rabies Clinic Thursday

Patty Ritchie

September 25, 2013

State Senator Patty Ritchie is reminding pet owners that she will host a no-cost rabies clinic on Thursday evening in Louisville.

The event—which is the second of 6 free clinics Ritchie is hosting in the North Country—will be held from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the Lousiville Municipal Building, located on Route 37.

“Rabies is a deadly disease, and it’s critical that pet owners take this very important step to protect their animals,” said Senator Ritchie.

“Last week more than five dozen pets were vaccinated at my Heuvelton clinic and I’m hoping that this event will be just as successful in helping to safeguard animals from rabies.”

The no-cost clinics—made  made possible by special funding secured by Senator Ritchie— are being hosted in conjunction with St. Lawrence County Public Health and Jefferson County Public Health.  So far this year, St. Lawrence County has had 23 confirmed cases of rabies and Jefferson County has had five confirmed cases. Please note that all pets receiving a vaccine must be leashed or in a carrier.  If available, please bring a copy of your pet’s last certificate of vaccination.
