Eliot Spitzer, Scott Stringer, Bill DeBlasio and Billy Thompson Attended Reverend Rubén Díaz's Festival
You should know that my annual Morrison Avenue Festival was attended by a host of dignitaries, elected officials, and many candidates for public office.
I had the honor to welcome and introduce to the public: Democratic Mayoral Candidates Erick Salgado, Bill Thompson, Bill DeBlasio; Democratic Comptroller Candidates Eliot Spitzer, Scott Stringer;Bronx Borough President Rubén Diaz, Jr., and my co-host, Assemblyman Marcos Crespo. I publicly welcomed Assemblyman José Rivera and Assemblyman Luis Sepulveda. I also publicly welcomed the following candidates for New York City Council: Joel Bauza who is running to fill the vacancy in the 15th City Council District left by Councilman Joel Rivera; Assemblymember Vanessa Gibson and Pedro Alvarez who are both running to fill the vacancy in the 16th City Council District left by Councilmember Helen Foster; Councilmember Maria del Carmen Aroyo, who is running in the 17th City Council District; and Councilmember Annabel Palma who is running in the 18th City Council District. Public Advocate Candidate Reshma Saujani also attended my event, but she arrived and left before I got there.
You should know that thousands of South Bronx families attended my Morrison Avenue Festival and enjoyed free, live entertainment, music, and games for children. More than 5,000 people attended this annual peaceful summer event! I was very happy that so many political candidates also attended, and I was honored to personally extend every courtesy to these candidates – for their benefit. I introduced each one of them on the stage so they could pay tribute to the South Bronx and its leaders – and they did.
My dear reader, even though I was so happy to see all of these elected officials come to my event, in the back of my head, there is always a question: How many of them dared to announce in their public event schedules that they were coming to see me and attend an event hosted by Senator Reverend Rubén Díaz?
You should know that there are some candidates and elected officials who are reluctant to share this information with the public. There are some who might try to hide the fact that they know me. They don’t want their supporters from liberal circles to know that they spend time with me, meet with me, call me, or come to my events – due to my strong pro-family and pro-life positions.
Ladies and gentlemen, you should know that it was very, very nice to welcome so many candidates to my 2013 Morrison Avenue Festival. It would be disappointing to think that any of them would not want to announce their participation with me at this event. I can only hope that if I ever attend any festival that any of these candidates might host, that they would extend the same genuine courtesy and welcome to me, as I did to them.
This is Senator Reverend Rubén Díaz and this is what you should know.
