Senator O'Brien encouraged by progress on minimum wage increase

ALBANY, N.Y. – With the Assembly’s passage of legislation to raise the minimum wage and index future increases to the rate of inflation, Senator Ted O’Brien has called for immediate action by the State Senate leadership.

“Over 1.1 million hard working New Yorkers are denied a living wage because our state’s minimum wage is too low. When given fair compensation for their work, these New Yorkers will help kick-start the economy and invest in their local communities,” Senator O’Brien said. “I look forward to voting in favor of raising the state’s minimum wage and I urge the Senate leadership to bring this legislation to the floor for a vote.”

Sen. O’Brien represents the 55th district in the Senate, which is made up of the eastern half of Monroe County and the western half of Ontario County, including much of the city of Rochester.
