STATEMENT FROM SENATOR GIPSON ON THE ARREST AND CHARGES
AGAINST SENATOR JOHN SAMPSON
ALBANY, NY – Hudson Valley Senator Terry Gipson today issued the following statement concerning the arrest and charges against New York State Senator John Sampson.
“Once again, I’m very troubled by the allegations against Senator John Sampson. This is another unfortunate example of why there is an urgent need for comprehensive campaign finance and ethics reform in New York.
“There are many newly elected officials like myself from the Hudson Valley and across the state that are committed to reforming Albany and restoring the public trust. I’m confident that under the leadership of Senator Stewart-Cousins and by working with our colleagues across the aisle we can bring reform to Albany.
“I remain committed to fighting and reforming this system that clearly doesn't do enough to prevent the potential for corruption. In addition to working for reform, we most also maintain our focus on the important issues of creating jobs and rebuilding our economy.”
