STATEMENT FROM SENATOR GIPSON ON CORRUPTION CHARGES AGAINST SENATOR MALCOLM SMITH
Poughkeepsie, NY – Hudson Valley Senator Terry Gipson today issued the following statement concerning the arrest of IDC State Senator Malcolm Smith (Queens) on Tuesday, April 2, 2013.
“I am very troubled by the allegations against Senator Malcolm Smith and other elected officials. If true, the charges feed right into the discontent felt by so many New Yorkers about our state’s government. It is because of these concerns that I ran for office and have been committed to changing the process to better serve the people of the Hudson Valley and across the state.
“I am committed to fighting such disgusting instances of corruption. We cannot afford these unnecessary distractions as we continue to work towards rebuilding our economy and tackling the real issues at hand.”
