Senator George Maziarz (R-C, Newfane) announced that legislation allowing the City of Lockport to issue bonds to liquidate $5.35 million was approved today in the Senate. This special legislation was requested by the City of Lockport through a home rule message in order to allow the municipality to borrow funds to cover debts incurred during fiscal years 2011, 2012, and 2013.
“Whenever we get a request from a local government for legislation to meet a local need, we do all we can to assist them,” Senator Maziarz said. “This legislation will allow the City of Lockport to get on a better financial footing and I’m glad we could get it passed for them.”
The measure was approved in the Assembly yesterday and will be sent to the Governor for executive action.
