Senator Jack M. Martins (R-7th Senate District) today helped bring some extra holiday cheer to children in Winthrop-University Hospital by delivering over 2,000 toys he collected through his annual holiday toy drive.
“The gift of a new toy always brightens a child’s spirits, and that’s even more important for children in the hospital who are going through tough times. The community’s extraordinary generosity will bring smiles to the faces of many children who could use some extra cheer. Thank you very much to everyone who participated in this program; you will help make a tremendous difference for so many families,” said Senator Martins.
Students from nine local schools, patrons of two local libraries, and residents from across Senator Martins’ Senate District collected and donated the toys. The schools and libraries who participated in Senator Martins’ toy drive are:
• Bryant Library (Roslyn)
• Center Street School (Herricks School District)
• Cherry Lane Elementary School (Carle Place School District)
• Hillside Grade School (New Hyde Park-Garden City Park School District)
• Hillside Public Library (New Hyde Park)
• Manhasset Secondary School (Manhasset School District)
• Mineola Middle School (Mineola School District)
• Rushmore Avenue School (Carle Place School District)
• Searingtown School (Herricks School District)
• St. Aidan School (Williston Park)
• Weber Middle School (Port Washington School District)
“Winthrop-University Hospital is amazed at the incredible generosity of New York State Senator Jack Martins and all of the groups who helped to collect toys for our pediatric patients this year,” said John F. Collins, President and CEO of Winthrop-University Hospital. “This wonderful outpouring of kindness will certainly brighten the lives of our young patients throughout the year, and we thank him for being so instrumental in making this happen.”
