(Brooklyn, NY) – During the 43rd Annual Legislative Conference of the New York State Black, Puerto Rican, Hispanic and Asian Legislative Caucus (Caucus), State Senator Kevin Parker honored Congresswoman Yvette D. Clarke with the Caucus’ ‘Distinguished Service Award’ for her outstanding service and commitment to working families and immigrants in Central Brooklyn. |
“It is hard to imagine anyone who deserves the ‘Distinguished Service’ award more than Congresswoman Yvette Clarke,” said Senator Kevin Parker. “This award is a small token of our community’s appreciation for her dynamism, leadership and unwavering service when it comes to developing policy that will positively impact working families and move our community forward.” “Congresswoman Clarke has been a longtime friend, colleague in government and an authentic voice of Brooklyn,” continued the Senator. “I am proud to be able to give her this award, and pleased we share Central Brooklyn as our legislative districts and can work together in the best interests of our constituents.”
As the Congressional Representative of the 11th district, Congresswoman Clarke is committed to continuing the district’s legacy of excellence as set forth by the late Congresswoman Shirley Chisholm, the first African American woman and Caribbean American elected to Congress. As an activist, a community organizer and now as a legislator, Rep. Clarke’s boldness, compassion and love for humanity has allowed her to become an effective leader and an outspoken advocate on numerous issues of great importance to her constituents. Currently, in the 113th Congress, Rep. Clarke sits on the House Committee on Small Business and House Committee on Homeland Security. She is ranking member of the Homeland Security subcommittee of Emerging Threats, Cybersecurity, Science and Technology.
