Senator Lee Zeldin Lowers Hunting and Fishing Fees for Long Island Seniors
ALBANY—Senator Lee Zeldin (R,C,I—Shirley) announced that his bill to lower the age limits in which seniors are entitled to receive a reduction in fees for various hunting, fishing and trapping licenses passed in the Senate today.
The bill, S. 5133, changes the senior citizen age accepted by the New York State Department of Environmental Conservation from seventy to sixty-five.
“For seniors on a fixed income, every little bit counts and this bill will make it even easier for seniors across New York to continue engaging in hunting, fishing and trapping,” said Senator Zeldin. “I am especially proud to champion any legislation that actively improves the quality of life for our seniors.”
The legislation aims to bring this provision of law into alignment with the majority of state and federal senior citizen recognitions. It is sponsored in the Assembly by Assemblyman Fred W. Thiele, Jr. (I, D, WF-Sag Harbor).
