Senator Golden Reacts to Governor Cuomo’s State of the State

Albany – State Senator Martin J. Golden (R-C-I, Brooklyn) has issued the following statement in response to Governor Andrew Cuomo’s 2014 State of State speech delivered this afternoon in Albany:

“Today, Governor Cuomo outlined his plans for the future of New York State and his interest in continuing to work in a bipartisan manner to move the Empire State forward. New Yorkers throughout my district and New York deserve tax relief and we must seize the opportunity this year. We must work to reduce business taxes and those effecting our manufacturing industry, so we can sustain and flourish our State’s employment.

We must also engage in strong conversations about property tax relief for residents of New York City. I also look forward to working with the Governor to expand and enhance education opportunities throughout New York City and New York State, and cracking down on drunk driving.

I very much look forward to working with Governor Cuomo to support his Disaster Relief Project so that New York can better prepare for future storms. Superstorm Sandy severely impacted areas of my district, and there is no denying that we must make improvements to protect our infrastructure, including our New York City subway system.

Undoubtedly, there are areas that will require serious negotiations, in order to find common ground among the Governor, Senate and Assembly, but it is in the best interest of the taxpayers to have a productive session that reaffirms that New York is a great place to live, work and raise a family.”
