Ritchie Announces 2014 Senior Health and Wellness Fairs

New Locations, More Vendors to be Featured

State Senator Patty Ritchie is encouraging seniors in Central and Northern New York to mark their calendars for her annual “Senior Health and Wellness Fairs.” This year’s fairs—which feature new locations for the Oswego and Jefferson County events, as well as more vendors than ever before—will take place in the coming weeks and offer local seniors access to free health checks, flu shots, tips for improving well-being, lunch, entertainment and more.

The first event will take place in Oswego County on September 24^th at the Fulton Ice Arena (605 W. Broadway Street) from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. The fair will feature nearly 50 vendors and free transportation will be provided by Oswego County Opportunities.  A transportation schedule can be found here.  This year’s event will also feature lunch prepared and served by “future chefs” who are currently studying at Oswego County BOCES. Click here for a list of organizations attending the event.

 “Every year, thousands of seniors attend my Health and Wellness Fairs in an effort to learn how to improve their health and well-being,” said Senator Ritchie.  “I’m thrilled to host another round of these events not only to give people access to dozens of organizations aimed at helping them improve their lives, but also to talk with our area’s seniors to learn about the things that matter most to them.”

In addition to the Oswego County event, Senator Ritchie’s Jefferson and St. Lawrence County Senior Health and Wellness Fairs will take place on the following dates:

Jefferson County Senior Health and Wellness Fair (New location)

Date: October 1^st

Location:  Bruce M. Wright Memorial Conference Center (1291 Faichney Drive, Watertown)

Time: 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.

St. Lawrence County Senior Health and Wellness Fair

Date: October 15^th

Location:  Ogdensburg Oddfellows Hall (1111 Linden Street Ogdensburg)

Time:  11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.
