SENATOR GIPSON HIGHLIGHTS ADDITIONAL EXTREME WINTER RECOVERY AID FOR MUNICIPALITIES IN 41st DISTRICT
POUGHKEEPSIE, NY – New York State Senator Terry Gipson (D-Dutchess, Putnam) highlighted additional “Extreme Winter Recovery Appropriations” in the 2014/2015 State Budget for local highway departments in Dutchess and Putnam to help with infrastructure repair efforts after the harsh winter. During the New York State Budget process, Senator Gipson and local highway superintendents were vocal in calling for additional funding and a greater commitment to infrastructure improvements from New York State.
“I met with local highway superintendents and spoke with local officials throughout the budget process and all shared my serious concerns about the urgent need for infrastructure repairs following such a harsh winter,” said Senator Gipson. “Along with these localities, I strongly supported additional aid to help ensure the safety and integrity of our infrastructure. Although CHIPS funding remained consistent with last year’s increase to record high levels, this additional aid is an important and a welcomed step.”
