O'Mara, Palmesano will hold community meetings across the region on Saturday

Elmira, N.Y., March 13—New York State Senator Tom O’Mara (R-C, Big Flats) and Assemblyman Phil Palmesano (R,C,I-Corning) today reminded area residents that they will hold several community meetings across the region on Saturday, March 15, 2014.

"We hope our constituents will take advantage of these community meetings to learn more about and contribute to this year’s challenges and debates over taxes, regulations, mandates, economic development, health care, education, and other key issues," O’Mara and Palmesano said in a joint statement.  “Community meetings offer the kind of direct give and take that’s fundamental to effective government.”

O’Mara, Palmesano and the region’s other state assemblymen recently began a series of community meetings that they will be conducting throughout the Southern Tier and Finger Lakes regions during 2014.  O’Mara’s 58th Senate District encompasses Chemung, Schuyler, Steuben and Yates counties, and a portion of Tompkins County (the city and town of Ithaca, and the towns of Enfield, Newfield and Ulysses).

The meetings are informal and open to the public.  They’re designed to give local residents an opportunity to directly share their concerns, opinions and suggestions for better government.  

O’Mara and Palmesano will hold community meetings this Saturday, March 15th, at the:

> Veteran Town Hall in Chemung County (4049 Watkins Road) from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.;

> Watkins Glen Community Center in Schuyler County (155 South Clute Park Drive) from 1:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m.; 

> Penn Yan Village Hall in Yates County (111 Elm Street) from 3:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m.; and

> Bath Municipal Building in Steuben County (110 Liberty Street) from 5:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m.

O’Mara and Palmesano stressed that any local residents unable to attend this week’s meetings can contact them directly to share specific concerns and suggestions.
