Senator Young Partners With The Higher Education Services Corporation To Remind Area High School Seniors, College Students To Complete The FAFSA

Campaign for Financial Aid Awareness Runs Through February

OLEAN – New York State Senator Catharine Young (R,C,I-Olean) is joining with the New York State Higher Education Services Corporation (HESC) to remind area high school seniors and college students about the importance of completing the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) through the “Start Here, Get There” campaign for financial aid awareness.

The campaign is meant to assist students, parents and guardians with the completion of the FAFSA, in order to receive the maximum benefits available through both the federal and state financial aid programs.

“The cost of pursuing higher education can be immense and reducing that cost is always an issue of concern for me,” said Senator Young. “Fortunately, programs like ‘Start Here, Get There’ are able to provide students, parents and guardians with the tips and tools they need to obtain the maximum financial support as they prepare to pay for college. I am proud to partner with HESC in this important endeavor and excited to announce the upcoming dates of workshops in our area.”

“Whether it’s a trade school, community college or four year university, preparing for college is an exciting and nerve-wracking time in a person’s life and obtaining the maximum financial support to achieve this goal is imperative. State and federal financial aid, as well as many scholarship programs for most institutions, rely upon a properly completed FAFSA. Unfortunately the form can be tricky to complete and some people may find the questions confusing, so taking advantage of programs aimed at assisting applicants will better ensure students receive the aid they need to pay for school,” Senator Young continued.

Over the next month, area students and their parents or guardians will be able to attend FREE events geared toward assisting students and their families with completion of the FAFSA. Upcoming dates include:
