Statement from Senator Catharine Young
Catharine Young
March 27, 2015
"Homeowners and employers desperately need meaningful property tax relief. In order for a half percent increase in the county’s sales tax to have a chance of passing in the state Senate, there would have to be a mandatory county property tax cut written into the bill language. I am exploring the concept of putting into law a required three percent property tax levy decrease, which translates into a $2 million dollar property tax cut for the people of Chautauqua County. By making the property tax burden lighter, we can grow jobs and the economy, while giving people savings that will help their family budgets."
