As Hurricane Joaquin continues to intensify, it is important to make sure that you and your family are prepared in the event another storm strikes our area. As we learned during Hurricane Sandy, planning ahead can protect more than your property – it can help save lives. Please take a moment to review some Hurricane Safety Tips issued by the NYS Division of Homeland Security and Emergency Services (DHSES)

In addition to the above tips, I have put together a Hurricane Safety Checklist for you and your family which can be found below. This brochure contains important telephone numbers and a list of things that will help you construct a hurricane preparedness kit. You can find many of these items in your home already. Although this is a general hurricane kit list, you should keep in mind any of your family’s particular needs as you prepare.
Please also don't forget to sign-up for NY-Alert https://users.nyalert.gov to receive immediate alerts on flood warnings and severe storms.
Don’t wait until the last minute to get ready. Start planning now!
