Senator Jack M. Martins (R-7th Senate District) announced that he has secured state funding for a road improvement project in the Village of Westbury.
“Road projects improve safety, make traveling easier, and enhance the overall quality of life in the community. Westbury will be rehabilitating several local roads and this state funding will help support their efforts to make life better in the Village,” said Senator Martins.
The $200,000 in state funding will be used by the Village to resurface and improve the following roads:
• Castle Avenue from Plainfield Street to Grand Street
• May Avenue from Sylvan Lane to Nursery Lane
• Wickey Avenue from Sylvan Lane to Nursery Lane
• Wilson Avenue from Sylvan Lane to Grand Street
According to the Village, work on the project is expected to begin next spring and be completed by the end of next summer.
“Senator Martins recognizes the critical need that local municipalities, including the Village of Westbury, have to maintain and upgrade our infrastructure, and the scarcity of funds that are available to do so. In securing this grant for Westbury, Senator Martins insures that the aggressive road resurfacing program that we started several years ago can continue. These capital improvements are vital to making our community safer, more secure and more attractive, and help preserve our village quality of life. We are very fortunate that Senator Martins recognizes the important needs, like the Ellison Avenue Bridge replacement project and our road resurfacing program, that we have that will make our community better. On behalf of Westbury's residents, I am grateful for his assistance,” said Village of Westbury Mayor Peter Cavallaro.
