Senator Martins Visits Hicksville Library to View New Renovations

     Senator Jack M. Martins (R-7th Senate District) recently visited the Hicksville Library to view new renovations that were made using $25,000 in state funding. Senator Martins secured the state funding for the Library. 

     The Library used the state funds to create a new training center. The Center will provide computer training courses to help patrons learn how to use different computer programs, as well as ESL classes to help those looking to develop their English language skills. 

     “The Hicksville Library provides a variety of important programs and services to the community. This funding enhances their ability to provide valuable training programs that teach new computer, literacy, and verbal skills to residents,” said Senator Martins.  

     “We are very grateful to Senator Martins for providing funding for a new training area for our ESL/Citizenship students. This new space will also provide a more conducive area for individual instruction, as well as classes in computer programs and database research. In addition, a quiet reading area was relocated to the new media room. Both patrons and students alike are benefitting from the newly created instructional and quiet reading areas, and the Board of Trustees and I were delighted to once again welcome Senator Martins to our library, interact with our students, and see these benefits first hand,” said Elizabeth Goldfrank, Director of the Hicksville Library.
