Klein Marches With Hundreds of Little Leaguers in Pelham & Riverdale, Throws First Pitch at Ambrosini Field on City Island
BRONX, NY - State Senator Jeff Klein (D-Bronx/Westchester), together with hundreds of little leaguers, local families, community members and elected officials, today celebrated opening day in the Bronx – touring little league parades in Pelham, Riverdale and on City Island. Klein marched along with children and families, cheered on youngsters in uniform and threw the first pitch at City Island’s home opener at Ambrosini Field.
Senator Klein said: “Nothing says spring like baseball. Opening day in the Bronx brings together family, friends and little ones to kick off the season and enjoy the great weather. Each year, I'm proud to support our little leagues which teach our children the values of teamwork, leadership and community. Good luck to all the local teams this spring and remember: when we play together, everyone wins!"
The celebration kicked off at the Pelham Little League Parade, where local teams marched from the Pelham Fire Department to Pelham Memorial High School. Senator Klein then joined children and families in Riverdale, marching in the 60th annual North and South Riverdale Little League Parade with Assemblyman Dinowitz and Councilman Cohen. The last stop was City Island, where Senator Klein joined in the festivities and threw the first pitch at Ambrosini Field.
