(Brooklyn, NY) - Senator Jesse Hamilton hosted more than one hundred Prospect-Lefferts Gardens residents for Movies Under the Stars: Caribbean Culture Jam at the Jackie Robinson Playground Friday evening. On Wednesday night, Senator Hamilton hosted a similar number of neighborhood residents in Park Slope at the Old Stone House. Both nights in advance of the film, DJ English provided music and the West Indian American Day Carnival Association presented a headpiece making workshop for neighborhood children. On Friday, the evening’s film was Selma. Earlier in the week, though the evening's film was cancelled due to rain, Senator Hamilton hosted the event at the Old Stone House with a successful Culture Jam that dozens of children enjoyed.
Senator Hamilton extends thanks to co-hosts, Brooklyn Borough President Eric Adams, Assembly Member Jo Anne Simon, Council Member Brad Lander, and Council Member Laurie Cumbo, as well as thanks to community groups and those who partnered in making the events such a success, the West Indian American Day Carnival Association (WIADCA), DJ English, Old Stone House, Park Slope Parents, Park Slope Neighbors, NYC Parks, FDNY, NYPD, and Sesame Flyers. Also, Senator Hamilton extends thanks to everyone who was able to come out to the Movies Under the Stars in Park Slope on Wednesday or the presentation in Prospect-Lefferts Gardens Friday.
