ALBANY, N.Y. – Senator Marc Panepinto released the following statement:

“Today’s Health Committee CARE Act vote brings us one step closer to successfully addressing the issue of affordable and effective long-term healthcare in New York State. Family caregivers play a critical role in keeping loved ones from the costly re-admission to a hospital or health facility. This piece of legislation will help ensure that the 4.1 million family caregivers throughout this great state are not left out of patient health discussions and are properly instructed on how to perform necessary medical or nursing tasks at home.

I am thrilled to be a co-sponsor of the CARE Act, legislation which is strongly supported by the AARP – an organization that I will be eligible for membership in within the next month. I would hope that they consider raising their age eligibility as 50 is much too young! With that said, I look forward to advocating for the passage of the CARE Act as soon as possible.”
