Media Advisory: Senator Stewart-Cousins to be Inducted into the Westchester Women's Hall of Fame

What: Senator Andrea Stewart-Cousins, the Senate Democratic Leader, will be inducted into the Westchester Women’s Hall of Fame during a brief ceremony on Friday, May 6, 2016.
The prestigious award is bestowed by the Women’s Research and Education Fund (WREF), a non-profit organization founded in 1989 to promote equality and justice for women in Westchester County through training, advocacy and recognition of their achievements. Prior honorees include a who’s who of prominent and accomplished women in Westchester, including Senator Hillary Clinton, Congresswoman Nita Lowey, Westchester County Board of Legislators Chairwoman Lois Bronz, Westchester County District Attorney Janet DiFiore, Mae Carpenter of Westchester County’s Department of Senior Programs and Services, and the late actress Ruby Dee. A scholarship program is also part of WREF’s commitment to the future of girls.
The induction ceremony is part of the “In the Company of Women” event held by the YWCA White Plains and Central Westchester and the Women’s Research and Education Fund.
