Statement from Senate Democratic Leader Andrea Stewart-Cousins Regarding Raising the Minimum Wage

“The last time the minimum wage was raised the Senate Democrats correctly pointed out that this was simply a half measure that would have to be addressed again, and here we are three years later. We must learn from history and recognize that to truly lift people out of poverty we must adequately raise the minimum wage. The Senate Democratic Conference would have a tough time supporting anything that goes slower or lower than what the Governor has publicly proposed in his budget.”
