Senator Jack M. Martins (R-7th Senate District) announced that he has secured $250,000 in state funding for the Village of Plandome Manor to undertake road improvements in the Village.
The Village will use the state funding to make additional safety improvements at the “Triangle” intersection of Plandome Road, North Plandome Road, and Stonytown Road by widening the turn from North Plandome Road onto Plandome Road. According to the Village, the turn is extremely tight and poses problems for fire trucks heading south on North Plandome Road returning from calls, as well as larger commercial vehicles. Several vehicles have struck the existing retaining wall in this area, causing damage and forcing the Village to make emergency repairs. Widening the road will also help alleviate traffic backups for motorists turning onto Stonytown Road from North Plandome Road.
Additionally, the Village will use the state funding to repave the entire Circle Drive area following a major underground water main replacement project.
“Through these two projects, the Village of Plandome Manor will enhance safety, ease traffic congestion, and improve the overall quality of life for local residents. I’m pleased to support their efforts through this state funding,” said Senator Martins.
“The Village of Plandome Manor is very grateful for Senator Martins’ support. We appreciate that he understands the importance and need for these projects and that he has successfully delivered funding to make them a reality,” said Mayor Barbara Donno.
