ELECTRONIC RECYCLING, SHREDDING AMONG SERVICES TO BE OFFERED

Brooklyn – State Senator Martin J. Golden (R-C-I, Brooklyn), in the spirit of Spring cleaning, is today announcing two events he is organizing to keep Brooklyn clean and help residents clean out their apartments and homes of clutter scheduled for early April.

Senator Golden is partnering with a number of non-profit and government agencies to offer free shredding services, E-Waste recycling, clothing and fashion collection,  an opportunity to safely dispose of medication, and offer rain barrels at no charge.

The events will be held during the weekend of April 9th and 10th. Area residents are invited to join Senator Golden at the event scheduled for either Saturday, April 9th from 11:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. in the St. Anselm Church Parking Lot (4th Avenue and 82nd Street), or on Sunday, April 10th, from 11:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. in Marine Park at the Avenue U Parking Lot, between East 33rd and Stuart Streets.

Senator Marty Golden stated, “I am excited to host these events that will give residents an opportunity to get some of the unwanted items around their house properly disposed of. I trust that many in our community will take advantage of the chance to dispose of expired or unwanted medicine, shred the old papers, donate clean used clothing, or get rid of the old televisions, computers and electronics we can no longer put out with our regular garbage collection.”

“The events will also offer a free rain barrel giveaway to homeowners who reserve them in advance. So mark your calendars and join us in recycling to keep Brooklyn clean,” continued Senator Golden.

The events are being supported by the AARP, the Lower East Side Ecology Center, the New York City Department of Sanitation Re-Fashion NYC, Goodwill Industries of Greater New York and New Jersey, the New York City Police Department and the New York City Department of Environmental Protection.

For more information on the events, or to reserve a rain barrel, call Senator Golden’s office at (718) 238-6044.
