Senator Mike Nozzolio has announced that civil service exams will soon be conducted for the purpose of hiring new Corrections Officer Trainees for the New York State Department of Corrections and Community Supervision.
“As the Chairman of the State Senate Codes Committee and former Chairman of the Crime Victims, Crime, and Correction Committee, I have continually supported our corrections officers and advocated for safer working conditions for all the brave men and women who work in our State Correctional facilities,” said Senator Nozzolio.
According to the Civil Service Department, the exam will be held on April 9th. In order to take the exam, candidates must be at least 21 years of age, a United States Citizen, and hold a high school diploma or GED equivalent diploma. Interested individuals must be New York State residents to accept employment with the Department of Corrections.
“Our corrections officers are some of the bravest and hardest working men and women in the State of New York, and I would encourage anyone who believes that he or she has what it takes to do the job, to apply for the exam,” concluded Senator Nozzolio.
Applications for the exam can be completed by mail or online and must be submitted by February 24, 2016. There is a non-refundable $35 fee to be submitted with a completed application. For more information on the test and the position, you can download application forms, or apply online. Please visit the New York State Civil Service exam website by CLICKING HERE.
