In recognition of his unwavering support and service to the people of Webster, State Senator Michael F. Nozzolio was honored on May 11th at the Webster Arboretum by the Webster Republican Committee with the Elmer Smith Award for Community Service. The Elmer Smith award is given out annually to a member of the Webster community who exemplifies the true meaning of public service. Senator Nozzolio was chosen to receive this year’s award for his numerous accomplishments on behalf of the people of Webster.
In announcing the award, Ron Nesbitt, Webster Town Supervisor, said, “In presenting the Elmer Smith award tonight to Senator Nozzolio, the Webster Republican Committee could not think of a more deserving honoree. Senator Nozzolio has been a true leader and supporter of our Webster community. He has been there for our Webster sports groups, Police Department, Fire Departments, non-for-profit organizations, schools, and the many town projects that have needed additional State funding and support. His countless state donations of grant monies can be seen all over the Webster community, including right here in this building, at the Arboretum,” concluded Supervisor Nesbitt.
To further enhance community spirit, Senator Nozzolio has tirelessly worked to better Webster. From obtaining state funding for the Webster sports teams and the Parks and Recreation/Community Center to providing the West Webster Fire Department, North East Fire District, Union Hill, and Medic 10 with life saving equipment, Senator Nozzolio has consistently been a strong advocate in the New York State Senate for the people of Webster.
“It is an honor to receive this recognition and I am humbled by the support and well wishes I have received since announcing my retirement,” said Senator Nozzolio. “I look forward to continuing my work with the people of Webster in an effort to make our region the best place to live, work, and raise a family.”
