Senator Patrick M. Gallivan (R-C-I, Elma) is hosting a community awareness forum on substance abuse and addiction, including prescription drugs, opioids and heroin. Local health experts, law enforcement officials and others will participate in the event being held from 6-8 pm May 18 at Depew High School, 5201 Transit Road. The forum is free and open to the public, including those who live outside of Depew.
“We have all heard of the devastating impact that heroin and opioid abuse is having in our communities,” Gallivan said. “It will take a unified effort to overcome this public health crisis and that’s why we are bringing experts together to discuss ways to help individuals and families battling with addiction.”
The forum is presented by “Save the Michaels of the World,’ an organization named for 20 year old Michael David Israel and created to raise awareness of prescription drug addiction.
The presentation will include Senator Gallivan, Julie Israel of the “Save the Michaels of the World” organization and representatives of Kids Escaping Drugs, Horizons Health Services and Renaissance Addiction Services Inc.
Anyone interested in attending the event can register or get more information by calling Senator Gallivan’s office at 716-656-8544.
