Senator Gallivan to Serve on Search Committee for Next Superintendent of State Police

Senator Patrick M. Gallivan (R-C-I, Elma) has been named to a seven-member search committee which will review and recommend candidates to become the next Superintendent of the New York State Police.  Current Superintendent Joseph D’Amico recently announced his plans to retire after six years as head of the agency.

“I look forward to working with my fellow committee members to find the best person to oversee one of the top law enforcement agencies in the country,” Gallivan said.  “As someone who proudly wore the uniform, I have great respect for the men and women who serve the State Police and I am committed to helping to find a person who will uphold those traditions and lead our law enforcement and public safety efforts at this critical time.”

Gallivan is a former State Trooper and Sheriff of Erie County.  He also serves as Chairman of the Senate Committee on Crime Victims, Crime and Corrections.

• Ray Kelly - Vice Chairman of K2 Intelligence, and former Commissioner of the New York City Police Department
• Bob Duffy - Chairman & CEO of the Rochester Business Alliance, and former Lt. Governor, Mayor of Rochester, and Chief of the Rochester Police Department
• Mylan Denerstein, Partner at Gibson, Dunn & Crutcher LLP, and former Counsel to the Governor
• Michael Balboni, President and Managing Director of Redland Strategies, former New York State Senator and Deputy Secretary for Public Safety for New York State
• Thomas Zugibe, Rockland County District Attorney and President of the District Attorneys Association of the State of New York
• Rachel Small, Deputy Secretary for Public Safety for New York State
