Building upon her past efforts recognizing the importance of athletics and the accomplishments of local high school teams, State Senator Patty Ritchie has delivered $9,000 in special funding for the purchase of a new cheerleading mat for the Belleville Henderson Central School District, which will be used for the squad to practice tumbling and stunts and take their athletic skills to the next level.

“Our athletic programs in North Country schools are known for their success,” said Senator Ritchie.  “Sports play a big part in the daily lives of students, where they not only learn to work together as a team but are able to be active and improve their fitness.  I’m thrilled to support our local athletes and hope this funding helps them to reach even greater successes.”

“We are extremely grateful to Senator Ritchie for her efforts in providing the funds for the new cheerleading mat,” said Belleville Henderson Cheerleading Coach Jessica Winters.  “This will help keep our student athletes safe as they prepare to perform and showcase their competitive skills with stunts, lifts and tumbling.”

This funding builds upon Senator Ritchie’s ongoing efforts to recognize the accomplishments of local student athletes.  Earlier this year, Senator Ritchie announced $12,000 to support athletic programs in the Heuvelton Central School District and $20,000 for Canton, Morristown and Massena Central School Districts.
