State Senator Patty Ritchie Thursday joined Governor Andrew Cuomo, as well as other state and local leaders to kick-off the 2016 Great New York State Fair in Syracuse.

“Offering everything from a firsthand look at farm animals and local foods, to top-notch entertainment and thrilling rides, the Great New York State Fair is a tradition that so many people in our region—and beyond—look forward to each and every year,” said Senator Ritchie.

“Today is an exciting day not only because we’re kicking off the 2016 Great New York State Fair, but also because people are getting their first look at a newly transformed fairgrounds. This is an event that truly offers something for everyone, and I’m encouraging all New Yorkers to grab their families and friends and head to the Fair now through September 5th.”

Made possible through $50 million in funding Senator Ritchie supported in the state budget, New York State recently completed upgrades and improvements to the fairgrounds, including a new Main Gate, an expanded midway, new RV park, changes to increase energy efficiency and more.
