State Senator Patty Ritchie joined local leaders in the city of Fulton recently, to mark the opening of a new kayak launch on the shores of Lake Neatahwanta.

The installation of the kayak launch was made possible through $50,000 in special funding secured by Senator Ritchie last year.

“Lake Neatahwanta is on the cusp of once again becoming a prime destination for outdoor recreation—and the opening of this new kayak launch is just one more step toward that goal,” said Senator Ritchie.

“I know how important things like this are to strengthening our communities, and I couldn’t be more pleased to see the people of Central New York have access to this new way to enjoy of one our region’s natural resources.”

“One of our main goals is giving the people of Fulton increased opportunities to get outside and get active,” said Barry Ostrander, City of Fulton Parks and Recreation Superintendent.”

“We are excited to welcome residents to the new launch and would like to again extend our thanks to Senator Ritchie for being a partner in the effort to improve recreational opportunities for the people of Fulton.”

“This new launch is a perfect example of how working together, we can improve the quality of life for residents in Fulton,” said Fulton Mayor Ron Woodward.  “We would like to thank Senator Ritchie for her support of this important project, which is making it easier for kayakers to enjoy Lake Neatahwanta.”

In addition to the kayak launch, funding secured by Senator Ritchie was also used to help construct a new playground in the city of Fulton.
