Senate Announces Hoosick Falls Water Quality Hearing to be Held August 30

New York State Senate Health Committee Chairman Kemp Hannon (R-C-I, Nassau) and Senate Environmental Conservation Committee Chairman Tom O’Mara (R-C, Big Flats) today announced that the hearing examining PFOA drinking water contamination in the Hoosick Falls area will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, August 30, 2016, at the Hoosick Falls High School, 21187 NY-22, Hoosick Falls, Rensselaer County.
Senators Hannon and O’Mara will be joined by Senator Kathy Marchione (R-C-I, Halfmoon), who represents the Hoosick Falls area, and other lawmakers. The purpose will be to explore the sources of water contamination, examine local, state, and federal oversight issues, and hear from experts, local residents, and others on what can be done to assist affected communities and mitigate future incidents.
The formal hearing will begin at 10:30 a.m. when Senators will hear from invited speakers and preregistered members of the public who wish to speak about drinking water contamination. In order to accommodate people who work during the day, members of the public will also have the opportunity to speak on a first-come, first-served basis beginning at 5 p.m.
