Senator Larkin Secures $50,000 In Grants For Local Libraries

Senator Bill Larkin (R-C-I, 39th District) recently announced that he has secured $50,000 in grants for public libraries in Rockland, Ulster and Orange counties.

Libraries in the Towns of Marlboro, Plattekill, Haverstraw and Blooming Grove will each receive $10,000 for technology and equipment upgrades, community outreach programs and building improvements.

“The importance of public libraries cannot be overlooked as they continue to provide opportunities to people of all ages and walks of life,” said Senator Bill Larkin, who also serves on the Senate Library Committee.  “Whether you are learning to read, seeking access to the Internet, conducting a job search, or simply looking for a good book to read for free, libraries offer a vast variety of resources and services to the public.”

The Sarah Hull Hallock Free Library, Plattekill Public Library, Haverstraw King’s Daughters Public Library, Marlboro Free Library and Moffat Library of Washingtonville all reached out on specific needs for their respective libraries.

There are some 750 public libraries in New York State, with a total of about 7,000 libraries when academic, school and special libraries are included.
