Senator Young Honors Hayleigh Palotti, 2016 NYSPHSAA Class C Cross Country Champion

LIVONIA – Running the race of her life, Livonia High School junior Hayleigh Palotti won a come-from-behind victory to capture the 2016 NYSPHSAA Class C Cross Country Championship. In recognition of this crowning achievement, Senator Catharine Young (R,C,I- 57th District) presented her with a New York State Senate Resolution.
“Hayleigh is a remarkable young woman, and this season was a testament to her dedication and perseverance. Coming off a brilliant first season last year, Hayleigh knew had the potential to put together an impressive season. She set her goals, trained hard and the results speak for themselves,” said Senator Young.
“Congratulations also go to her coach Dave Crabb, her teammates and parents. Hayleigh’s state title, and her overall success this season was truly one for the record books. I know the Livonia community is proud of everything Hayleigh accomplished,” said Senator Young.
Hayleigh Palotti dominated the Section V Class C season, winning races at the McQuaid Invitational, the Wayne Invitational, and the McDaniel-Baxter Championships. She won the Section V Class C Championship, pulling away in the second mile of the double-loop course at Victor High School and finishing with the day’s fastest time among the female competitors. Following up on her Sectional win, Palotti used her exceptional speed to produce a come-from-behind attack to win the Class C state title.
