Senator Helming Celebrates Centennial of Women’s Suffrage in Lyons

Senator Pamela A. The VoteTilla, a project organized by the National Susan B. Anthony Museum & House to commemorate the 100^th anniversary of women earning the right to vote in New York State, is a fleet of canal boats that traveled the Erie Canal from Seneca Falls to Rochester and stopped in canal towns along the route to mark the occasion. As the first female representative of the 54^th District, Senator Helming was invited to take part in the Lyons event.

“In the last century since women earned the right to vote in New York State, we have made great strides, but we still have so far to go in terms of equal pay for equal work, job and career opportunities, entrepreneurship and business ownership, and support for women and families. I appreciate the past achievements of the suffragists, and I hope to continue to pave the way for our youth,” Senator Helming said.
